Caesar salad
Is caesar salad low FODMAP?
Caesar salad is high FODMAP and best avoided during the elimination phase.
Romaine and parmesan are fine, but the wheat croutons and the fresh garlic in the dressing both add fructans, and bottled dressings can hide onion and garlic powder. A safer build uses gluten-free croutons and a dressing made with garlic-infused oil, parmesan, and plain anchovy.
FODMAP subgroups to watch
Caesar salad contains fructans that can drive SIBO symptoms.
SIBO note
Watch this one for ISO (hydrogen sulfide overproduction). Caesar salad contains sulfur compounds, and ISO patterns can be more sensitive to these, especially in larger servings.
