SIBO daily guide

Wasabi paste

High FODMAP (Avoid)Commercial paste is high in sorbitol

Is wasabi paste low FODMAP?

Wasabi paste is high FODMAP and best avoided during the elimination phase.

Commercial wasabi paste is high in sorbitol (added as a humectant). Most "wasabi" is horseradish-based. Wasabi powder mixed with water at home is the low-FODMAP swap.

FODMAP subgroups to watch

Wasabi paste contains sorbitol that can drive SIBO symptoms.

SIBO note

Watch this one for Hydrogen sulfide SIBO (ISO). Wasabi paste contains sulfur compounds, and hydrogen sulfide (ISO) patterns can be more sensitive to these, especially in larger servings.

Low-FODMAP condiments to try instead

FODMAP thresholds follow the Monash University Low FODMAP Diet research. Tolerance is individual. Unsibo is a wellness companion; it is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.
