Protein shake
Is protein shake low FODMAP?
Protein shake is moderate FODMAP, safe in limited portions (Safe with whey isolate or rice protein).
A shake made with whey protein isolate, or with rice or pea protein, is low FODMAP, since isolate has the lactose stripped out. Whey concentrate keeps more lactose, and the milk you blend it with matters too, so use lactose-free or almond milk.
FODMAP subgroups to watch
Protein shake contains lactose that can drive SIBO symptoms.
Portion threshold
Lactose climbs with whey concentrate or cow milk. Single typical servings stay in the rated range; larger servings push past the threshold.
Low-FODMAP drinks to try instead
