Ponzu sauce
Is ponzu sauce low FODMAP?
Ponzu sauce is moderate FODMAP, safe in limited portions (2 tbsp (40g)).
Ponzu is soy sauce loosened with citrus, mirin and a little sugar, so it behaves like soy sauce and is fine to about 2 tbsp. Check the label for high-fructose corn syrup or sorbitol, and a plain soy-and-lemon mix is an easy lower-FODMAP swap.
FODMAP subgroups to watch
Ponzu sauce contains fructans that can drive SIBO symptoms.
Portion threshold
The soy base carries fructans as the pour grows, like soy sauce. Single typical servings stay in the rated range; larger servings push past the threshold.
