Italian dressing
Is italian dressing low FODMAP?
Italian dressing is high FODMAP and best avoided during the elimination phase.
Bottled Italian dressing almost always lists garlic and onion powder, which carry fructans, so the usual 2 tbsp pour is high. A homemade oil-and-vinegar Italian with garlic-infused oil is safe at 2 tbsp, or look for a certified low-FODMAP brand.
FODMAP subgroups to watch
Italian dressing contains fructans that can drive SIBO symptoms.
SIBO note
Watch this one for ISO (hydrogen sulfide overproduction). Italian dressing contains sulfur compounds, and ISO patterns can be more sensitive to these, especially in larger servings.
