Alfredo sauce

High FODMAP (Avoid)1/4 cup (60g)

Is alfredo sauce low FODMAP?

Alfredo sauce is high FODMAP and best avoided during the elimination phase.

Most jarred Alfredo is a cream-and-garlic sauce, so it stacks fructans and lactose in a normal serve. A few plainer parmesan-and-water versions without garlic can work at about a quarter cup, or make your own with lactose-free cream and garlic-infused oil.

FODMAP subgroups to watch

Alfredo sauce contains fructans, lactose that can drive SIBO symptoms.

SIBO note

Watch this one for ISO (hydrogen sulfide overproduction). Alfredo sauce contains sulfur compounds, and ISO patterns can be more sensitive to these, especially in larger servings.
